What is Ask Axon? A: Ask Axon puts AI on your performance data with your data governed, accurate, and sport-specific from day one. There are two ways to use it. Inside Axon HQ, anyone on your team can ask questions in plain English and get answers without any AI tool or technical setup. For analysts doing more complex work, Ask Axon connects Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or any AI tool directly to your Axon data warehouse - no SQL, no exports, no file uploads.
Who is Ask Axon for? A: Both access points are useful across the organisation, but they serve different needs.
Ask Axon in HQ is for anyone who wants a quick answer: a coach checking load flags before a session, a physio wanting a wellness summary, a performance director who needs a picture before a selection conversation. No setup. Just open HQ and ask.
Ask Axon via MCP is for analysts and data leads building repeatable, complex workflows such as match reports that run every week, trend analyses across a full season, multi-dataset queries that would previously require significant manual prep work.
How does Ask Axon work technically? A: When you ask a question, Ask Axon provides your AI tool with schema files, purely structural information about your data (table names, column names, data types). No athlete data is included. Axon has built the context files and configuration that teach your AI tool how to interpret your data accurately: what your thresholds mean, how your periods are defined, what your sport-specific measures represent. Your AI uses all of that to write a SQL query, which runs directly on your Snowflake warehouse. Only the result comes back.
Do I need technical skills to use Ask Axon? No, for either access point. Inside HQ, you open the platform and ask your question. Via MCP, you connect your AI tool and ask in plain English. "Which players are above their 28-day load average this week?" "Show me our tackle completion rate across the last 10 matches." "Who has a wellness flag and an elevated ACWR going into Saturday?" If you can describe what you want to know, Ask Axon finds the answer.
Is my data safe? Yes. Your data never leaves your Snowflake warehouse. Ask Axon gives your AI tool a structural map of your data, not the data itself. The AI writes a query, the query runs on your warehouse, and only the answer to your specific question is returned. Your AI tool never has access to your full dataset.
Do I need to use a specific AI tool? A: No. Ask Axon via MCP works with Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or any MCP-compatible AI tool. If your team already has a preferred tool, connect it directly. If you don't want to use an external AI tool at all, Ask Axon inside HQ works without one.
How is this different from just using ChatGPT or Claude on my own data? You can try to connect an AI tool to your performance data directly. To do it properly, you need API connections to each source system, normalised data across all of them, configuration that makes AI interpret your sport-specific methodology correctly, and someone to maintain all of it when source system APIs change. That's typically months of technical work and it doesn't come with any of the sport-specific context that makes answers accurate.

What are context files? Context files are configuration packs that tell AI tools how to interpret your data accurately, what ACWR means, how your game periods are defined, what thresholds matter in your sport. Axon builds and maintains these for you. This is what makes AI answers accurate rather than generic. You can edit them to reflect your specific methodology.
Can we set it up ourselves? Yes, Ask Axon via MCP is self-serve. You connect your AI tool directly to your Axon warehouse. Axon can also provide consulting and support during setup if you want it.
